CURRENT JOB OPENINGS:
Boat Driver
Start date: May 25- July 24
Pay: $100/ per day – Lunch provided
Hours: 8:30 am- 12:00 pm/ 2:00 pm-5:00 pm
This is a seasonal, summer position responsible for operating Camp YI’s motorboats. The Boat Driver is responsible for safe operation of ski and pontoon boats and spend their time taking campers tubing, skiing, and kneeboarding. Boat Drivers are also tasked with keeping each boat filled with gas and keeping the dock and interior of the boats clean and organized. Two activity periods each day, lunch and a break provided. Boat Drivers report to the Camp Director and Waterfront Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate motor boats for the purposes of taking campers aged 8-14 skiing, kneeboarding, and tubing.
Know and follow all TWRA guidelines and operate each boat accordingly.
Keep the dock and boats clean and organized, including life jackets and all equipment. Report any damage or repairs to director.
Fill boats with gas each morning and throughout the day if needed.
Maintain a professional, friendly appearance and help assist with teaching campers water skills.
REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a Tennessee boating license
Full understanding and Knowledge of TWRA guidelines
Familiar with Percy Priest Lake
Have boating skills and knowledge of safety protocols
21 years of age or older by May 2026

2026 Equestrian Program Director
Start date: May-July 2026
Compensation: Room and board/$600 per week
Camp sessions run Monday- Friday, with 3 daily camper sign-up activity time periods. Part time duties available to start early May, with full time beginning May 26.
As a Program Director at Camp Y.I. you can expect to be welcomed in an open, diverse, and inclusive community. A Program Director’s main responsibility is the curriculum planning and delivery of program activities within the guidelines of Camp Y.I. and according to American Camp Association (ACA) standards; to design and deliver program activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers’ age and abilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead, supervise and help evaluate a team of counselors, identify areas of improvements and strengths, provide instructive and constructive feedback.
Ability to identify equestrian safety risks on the ground and mounted.
Ability to teach lunge line walk trot lessons to beginners, on non-gained horses, from ages 8-14.
Ability to safely ride the walk trot and canter on any lesson horse.
Experience using and adjusting both English and western tack.
Oversight on the overall health and wellness of all the horses.
Meet with the Assistant & Camp Director weekly for program and staff review.
Keep written records of program inventory. Advise and assist the Camp Director in the ordering of program supplies and equipment.
In charge of safe and appropriate usage, care, and storage of camp equipment and facilities.
Responsible for program risk management.
Assist other staff members with challenges they may be facing with campers or themselves.
Responsible to help ensure each camper is having a positive experience in a supportive atmosphere.

REQUIREMENTS:
21 years of age or older
High School Diploma, or equivalent.
Trained and experienced, a formal education in horsemanship is a plus.
Ability to follow and implement established rules and techniques.
Experience in working with, and teaching children.
Experience in a supervisory position.
Excellent social, leadership, and communication skills.
A drive to promote community, outdoor play, stewardship, and respect for nature.
Physical ability to participate in activities, this may include, but is not limited to; running, climbing, swimming, lifting items or supporting the weight of children.
Ability to work outdoor, under harsh weather conditions, and be professional in stressful situations.
Ability to pass a background check and provide a minimum of 2 professional references.
Attend Program and Staff training as provided by Camp Y.I.
Availability from May-July 31, 2026. No Camp week of July 4th.
Overnight accommodations are available in a co-ed dorm room, or in rustic staff cabin. Pay is based on experience and availability- plus room and board for one horse.

Head Chef

Reports to: Assistant Director
Position Purpose:
The lead cook directs the overall food-service operation of the camp including preparation, service, sanitation, personnel management, health standards, and record keeping.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Manage the daily operations of the camp food and dining service.
– Oversee the preparation of nutritionally balanced camp meals, snacks, and pack-out food. – Assist Directors with purchasing and meal planning.
– Ensure the cleaning after camp meals through directing the work of other employees.
– Ensure safe and efficient preparation and serving of camp meals.
2. Assist with the inventory and ordering of food, equipment, and supplies and arrange for the routine maintenance, sanitation, and upkeep of the camp kitchen, its equipment, and facilities.
– Maintain inventory of food and household supplies.
– Maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety.
– Clean and maintain all food-service areas, including kitchen, dining hall, storage, kitchen recycling.
– Inspect equipment and ensure equipment is repaired as necessary.
– Promote practices that seek to reduce waste, reuse items, and recycle as much as possible.
Experience: The ideal candidate will have experience preparing large portions of food, preferably in a catering setting. Minimum 5 years of food preparation.
Hours and Salary: Our camp sessions are from Sunday afternoon- Friday afternoon. Three meals are prepared daily, with the exception of Sunday and Friday. Kitchen hours are 6:30-9 for breakfast, 10-1 for lunch, and 4-6:30 for dinner. Our meal times are 7:30, 12:30, and 6. Pay starting at $20/ hr + based on experience. Room and Board can be provided if necessary.
All applicants must be 25 years of age or older and pass a background check.
Responsibilities:
- Working with other staff members on camp activities ensuring a safe and nurturing environment
- Support, Encourage, Lead campers in camp activities
- Monitor campers to ensure compliance with rules and prevent accidents
- Cleaning, maintaining, and ensuring proper use of camp property and facilities
- Report and record incidents to senior staff
Requirements:
- 18 years of age or older, 21 for lead positions and health center
- High School Diploma, or equivalent
- Interest in working with children
- Physical ability to participate in activities, this may include but is not limited to; running, climbing swimming, lifting items or supporting the weight of children
- Ability to pass a background check, national sex offender registry check and provide a minimum of 2 positive reference checks
- Attend staff training as provided by Camp YI
