Packing Tips

  • Label everything. Permanently write, or use labels that include first and last name.
  • Don’t pack anything of value. Things get lost, damaged or borrowed at camp.
  • Camp is a good place to wear out your old clothes and shoes.
  • Medium size plastic tubs work well for your belongings.
  • A laundry bag or an extra pillow case for dirty clothes.
  • Shoes without laces.
  • No shoes with open toes. Flip-flops are permitted for showertime only.
  • No electronic devices.  Battery powered music players and disposable camera’s for personal use only (no sharing of pictures online).
  • Books, Board Games, Cards, and other fun items for cabin time.
  • Add pre-addressed, pre-stamped stationary to write home.

Check-in is between 3-4 pm on Sundays.  Our front gate will open at 2:30 pm and our main gate will open by 3:00 pm. You will be directed to parking, unload your luggage to be delivered to your camper’s cabin and proceed to the Check-in area. There you will meet the Nurse, discuss any medications, allergies and get a head lice check. Then, parents and campers will head to your cabin to meet your counselors and cabin mates, pick out your bunk and meet new friends.

It will help your camper if you bring paper, pen and addressed envelopes for your camper to write letters to family and friends. We also have YI post cards they are free and we provide the stamp. Remember to leave mail with us to be delivered to your camper. The postal service does not deliver to us and we must go into LaVergne to pick it up and often the mail shows up after your camper has left. Care packages are great too but please refrain from leaving too much candy, sweet treats and drinks. We have trading post each night with the option of a drink and a snack. We also have S’mores at our opening campfire!
